In today’s vlog, I’m thrilled to introduce the official partnership between Bright Line Eating and Milestones, an inpatient residential facility in Florida that specializes in eating disorder issues, food addiction, and mental health recovery.
Bright Line Eating and Milestones: A Powerful New Partnership
Bright Line Eating, as you probably know, is an online, science-based weight-loss program designed for people who have an addictive relationship with food. Milestones was founded in 1999 by Dr. Marty Lerner, a PhD clinical psychologist who has been treating eating disorders since 1980. It is a food addiction-informed eating disorder clinic with a team that is 100% trauma-informed with deep clinical expertise.
This partnership feels like a natural fit.
Why This Collaboration for Food Addiction Treatment Matters
Milestones provides intensive, residential treatment for people who need more support than they can access on their own. For a month or two—sometimes longer—patients are immersed in a structured, supportive environment where they can step away from daily stressors and do deep healing work.
Like many residential programs, however, their challenge has been what comes next.
After discharge, patients need ongoing structure and community. That’s where Bright Line Eating comes in. Dr. Lerner reached out after seeing what we’ve built—a global, peer-to-peer online recovery community grounded in the four Bright Lines:
- No sugar
- No flour
- Eating only meals
- Weighed and measured food
When I met with Marty, COO and nutritionist Nikki Glantz, and Clinical Director Sakinah Osborne, the synergy was immediate. We share the same philosophy, the same language, and the same commitment to trauma-informed care and food addiction recovery.
What Milestones Offers Bright Line Eating
Some people struggle to get Bright on their own. They need more intensive treatment, one-on-one support, and trauma-focused therapy in a protected setting. In the substance use world, going away for treatment is common and often necessary.
Here’s how it’s going to work: Clients at Milestones will be introduced to Bright Line Eating from the very beginning. In their first week, they’ll watch a video from me sharing my story: my history with binge eating disorder, bulimia, anorexia patterns (with stimulant drugs), mental health struggles, food addiction, and substance use, and explaining why I created Bright Line Eating. I’ll also explain the science behind our program.
From there, they’ll participate in a shortened five-week Boot Camp and attend Bright Line-focused meetings during their day.
When they’re discharged, they’ll transition directly into our Bright Line community as Bright Lifers, already fluent in our philosophy, language, and structures. They’ll step into our meetups, Gideon Games, buddy and guide systems, and all the support we offer.
A Path for Those Who Need More for the Food Addiction
If you—or someone you love—feels too overwhelmed by food addiction to get Bright alone, Milestones may be an option. They offer intensive, individualized care, and—this is crucial—they do accept insurance.
For some people, stepping away for focused treatment can provide the foundation needed to begin a lifelong recovery journey.
A New Chapter in Food Addiction Recovery
I’m deeply grateful to Marty, Nikki, Sakinah, and the entire Milestones team. After 11 years of nurturing our virtual recovery community, Bright Line Eating has grown strong enough to partner with these professionals in meaningful ways.
It feels like the dawn of something new. And we’re just getting started.
