Hey there, it's Dr. Susan Peirce Thompson, and welcome to this Bright Reset Mini Class. I know that you are here because you've already been walking with me at least for a bit on this Bright Journey, and I'm guessing that when you started, when you first started with Bright Line Eating, you were scared, you had some trepidation, but you also had a vision in mind. You clicked that register button and got started because you could feel the pull to a calling, a calling to a life where you were not trapped down, weighed down by excess weight, by thoughts of food and a struggle and obsession with what you'd eaten or remembering things that you'd done with food the night before, and feeling bad about it today, noticing your weight and maybe blood work numbers from the doctor and not feeling good about it. You were called to a life where you were on a solid path devoted to a program that worked for you and resourced so that you wouldn't be turning to food for emotional comfort all the time and needing to use food as a go-to resource, as a crutch to get through life and a world where you were liberated from the food and the weight struggle that you were not worrying about what you weighed.
You were feeling good in your body, that you had a closet full of clothes that had clothes of the same size that all fit you, and you weren't constantly gaining weight out of certain sizes, not having anything to wear, feeling the frustration of trying to get dressed for an event or just even for work and not feeling good about how anything looks or feels as you put it on your body. Feeling liberated from the obsession about what you've eaten from really the struggle of all of the food and the weight trappings. Just not feeling trapped anymore by the food and the weight.
You got started with Bright Line Eating® and you saw that it worked. You saw the magic happen. You saw some of the weight melting off. More than that, you saw some of the order come to your mind, the brain fog lift and the feelings of self-worth and confidence start to creep in. You saw how one Bright meal stacked on top of the other started to build this structure, this foundation of success that was working for you. And then at that point, paths diverge a little bit. Different things happen for different people. For some people it's illness or travel or a big life event like a divorce or a death or a move, things like that. Maybe something like that threw you off track. Maybe it was just erosion, just the Bright creep of, or I guess not Bright creep, the creep of not Bright deviations easing their way in, and suddenly things are feeling really wobbly. Or maybe you stayed Bright through so much and just reached a point where things felt kind of stale and it was just wash, rinse, repeat, and you're wondering, is there more for my Bright Life?
I don't know right now where you're at, you could be Bright, but just feeling stagnant or maybe Bright and feeling amazing and just wondering what's next for you? If there's another level you could reach, but maybe you're really wobbly and in a pattern of breaking or bending your Lines, that doesn't feel good at all. Or maybe you're really struggling again with the food. Maybe you've deviated from Bright Line Eating and you are kind of plagued by the thought in the back of your head, “I should get back to it. I should get back to it. That really did work. I should get back to it.” But it's hard, isn't it, to recommit? Isn't it hard to get that early Boot Camp magic back? It's not just so easy to just click your ruby slippers together and just find yourself in a different land. It actually is difficult sometimes to turn over a new leaf and get to the other side of when you need a reboot or Rezoom™. Maybe you've done a Rezoom by yourself many times before and found yourself struggling, or it only works for a little while.
What I want to teach you in this Bright Mini Class is that there's three things that are needed for a solid Rezoom for a real Bright Reset. There's three things that are needed. The first is what scientists, psychologists call the fresh start effect. We need psychologically to really draw a line in the sand and step across. In the Boot Camp, I have the crossing the line meditation. It's a thing to draw that line and turn the page. There are things that help with that. Monday morning, the first of the month, January 1st. Ooh, that's a big one, right? It's actually true that those types of artificial markers on a calendar, although we might mock the January 1st dieting phenomenon because we've done it so many times ourself potentially, and found that it doesn't stick, it doesn't last. But the reality is that those types of benchmarks, even if they're artificial on a calendar, they do help us to turn the page psychologically. What's important about turning the page is when you have a good fresh start, it relegates some of the self-doubt to the past because that was the old you who did it that way. The new you is doing it a new way, and that's helpful. It gives you a boost of confidence that you need actually to take the consistent action that will cement your Rezoom. That fresh start effect psychologically is really, truly helpful. And anything that we can do to help create the fresh start effect will work to our advantage. But as you and I, well know, the fresh start effect is not enough. If it were, then anyone who had ever dieted on January 1st would now be thin and there would be no need for Bright Line Eating, or for any other approaches. It would just work because January 1st would have that kind of magic, but it doesn't. It gives us a little boost, but it doesn't have staying power does it.
The second thing that's really needed is a fresh mindset really to have a strong Rezoom. I think it was Einstein who said the same mind that caused a problem can't be the one that solves it. You need to be in a fresh state of mind to proceed and have real results. The reality is that the same person will keep eating addictively. We need to learn how to think and feel about things differently. Now, hold that thought because creating that is not so easy necessarily, but I'm just going to share with you that it's needed. We need a Bright new mindset.
The third thing that's needed for a Rezoom, a strong Rezoom, is a set of actions to take, a roadmap to follow, a set of steps to take baby steps. We all know that baby steps faithfully taken day after day after day are exactly the building blocks that turn into an amazing transformation. When you do the Boot Camp, that's what you get. You get very specific daily instructions on exactly what to do when and in what order, and for what reason. As you take those actions and follow that prescriptive roadmap, you watch your life transform in a way that's more miraculous, deeper, richer, more powerful, with better results than you could even really fathom. That's the value of having an expert lay out a roadmap for you. And really, it is helpful to have an expert lay out the path.
I know that for a couple of years, I worked with a personal trainer who was a powerlifting professional. He himself competed in powerlifting competitions and his pupils did as well. I would show up to the gym and he would've done some calculations on exactly what I'd be lifting that day. He had math that he was following. He was going to increase me by 5% on this number of reps and blah, blah, blah. He had a curve that he was following. Sometimes I'd be doing my deadlifts, and I'd be like, “Justin, I can lift heavier than this today.” He's like, “That's okay. This is your amount for today.” He was following a formula that he knew if I'd have been in the gym there making it up myself, I would've been probably overexerting myself, sometimes getting injured and really not aware of the methodology of the practices to follow to get optimally strong. He whipped me into shape, man. I went from barely being able to hang on a stationary bar to being able to do four pull-ups in a row when I was pushing 50. It was pretty impressive what he did with my strength. Similarly, people get into the Boot Camp and they have that awareness of, oh, it's really different when you're following a plan that's laid out by an expert in the brain and cognitive sciences and someone who really understands food addiction and they're working to give me a path that helps to heal my brain and really transform me.
So, we have the Boot Camp and a while back, we used to have something called the 14-Day Challenge, and Bright Lifers® and seasoned ex Boot Campers and so forth used to do the 14-day challenge every now and then as a restart. But it wasn't designed for that. It was actually designed to start people from ground zero and introduce them to Bright Line Eating from the beginning. It had a video at the beginning about a digital food scale and blah, blah, blah. It was for newcomers, but people liked to have that experience of starting fresh for the first two weeks and having an expert guide them, and it was effective for them. People have been asking for the 14-Day Challenge to have it back, and I've known that as an expert. That course is actually not the optimal course to take someone who already has had an experience with Bright Line Eating and give them a strong reset. In fact, the ideal course is what my team and I have just created.
We've been spending the last few months really digging deep and discussing in intense and powerful ways what exactly the optimal reset structure is, and I do believe we have landed on it. It's called The Bright Reset. 21 Days. 7 Practices. 1 Devoted You. The way it works is we have selected the seven practices that are needed for a strong Bright Line Eating program. We have layered them one after the other in the perfect order, and we are giving you three days with each practice. The first day with a practice, you learn about it, and you do it. The second day, you listen to a group of panelists. These are experienced Bright Lifers who are Bright and strong and using that practice regularly on a daily basis. You hear their different ways that they use it, that it matters to them why and how and when and where. You get all of that input on day two. And so, you get to really practice it at a deeper level. Then the third day, you go all the way deep and you reflect. You do a little bit of writing. There's one prompt, and you get to really reflect on this practice any barriers you have to it and go all the way deep with it. Then you start a new practice, and you layer them on top of each other.
The magic of this course is that it's so incredibly simple. There's never more than one thing to do. Each day you're going to be waking up and getting a video. It's not going to be more than 15 minutes long. It's targeted, it's short, it's to the point, it's rich, it's deep, and it gives you one clear set of marching orders. You have one thing that you're focused on for that day, and these practices build on each other, and you come out the other end 21 days, so Bright, so devoted to the program that you have just watched yourself gradually build so resourced by the practices that are nourishing you, and so liberated, again, just liberated from that food and that weight struggle. Liberated from the nagging feeling, I should get back to it. That really worked. I wish I could restart. I want to be back strong. Or that nagging feeling of my Lines could be Brighter or I could just be more engaged and present with this experience of living Bright. It is a full Bright Reset in every way.
So, who specifically is this course for? It is not for people who need to explore Bright Line Eating for the first time. This course was created for people who have already been on their Bright Journey. It was created for Bright Lifers, for former Boot Campers. It’s for you if you've been doing Bright Line Eating thoroughly, faithfully with the book for quite a long time, and maybe you've been looking for a way into the Bright Line Eating community, this is your welcome. We would love to have you in the Bright Reset. Maybe you did the membership a few years ago and you never got real traction, the Boot Camp was in there, it was called Bright Beginnings, but maybe you didn't really get real traction. This course is for you. Maybe you're in the ditch, maybe you're wobbly, maybe you're Bright, but you just want to reset a refresh. You just feel like you could be engaging more deeply with your Bright Lines.
I promise you that you are not doing all seven of these practices every day. I mean, maybe you are. If you are, I bow down to you. I can't imagine someone will write into us and say, I was already doing all seven of those things, probably not exactly the way we're going to teach them. There's going to be nuances here that are going to elevate your program. My guess is that even if you're solidly Bright, you're only doing a subset of these practices faithfully the way we teach them. So, you're going to get a lot of lift to your program. It's going to really open your eyes and help you land in your Bright program in a way more solid way than you have ever been there before.
The way it works is you're going to have 21 days to engage with the seven practices, and then three bonus days at the end just in case you fell a little bit behind, and then the experience will be over. This is not a course that you have like a textbook, and you go back and study it and study it. We have other courses in the Bright Roadmap in the membership like Reboot Rezoom™ that you can study and do anytime.
